Q: What does this program cost?
A: The cost depends on your organization’s number of employees and whether or not you plan to install it on a network (intranet or Learning Management System) for system-wide access. To receive a cost proposal, contact us. I’ll call you to find out your particulars and then provide a cost proposal for you.

Q: What if we invest in this communication skills training and then our employees leave, taking the skills with them?
A: What if you don’t invest in communication skills training, and then they stay?

Q: How long does it take to implement the program?
A: You set the schedule. I suggest 1-2 months per skill. You need to allow time for the hardwiring of the skill. I’ll be glad to consult with you at no charge to help you tailor the timeframe and delivery method to your needs.

Q: How hard is it to install the program on the intranet?
A: Not hard. Take a look at WellSpan Health’s intranet screenshot and you’ll see that, with some support from your internal IT department, installation is a very straightforward process. Your organization needs basic intranet software and software that allows streaming video. For details about the installation process, see our technical instructions.

Q: What staff do you need to manage the program?
A: It’s helpful to have a point person for this program. The time it will take depends on the roles you define for this person. Do you want this person to send out reminders, follow up with managers, report on progress to leadership, and provide ongoing implementation support to managers? If so and depending on the size of your organization and the number of locations, this can take between 5 and 20 hours per week.

Q: Can we put all of the components on our intranet and make them available only that way?
A: Yes, you can make all of the videos and materials available that way. However, to make accessing the videos and materials easy for people, it works best to have two different methods of distribution. In addition to access via intranet, some managers prefer a lending library of the videos and a central location where those without access to a copier can pick up materials in quantity.

Q: Do the skills apply to all staff, not just patient care staff? I’m concerned about people in IT, HR, Finance and other areas that have little if any patient contact.
A: The skills apply to all staff. When developing the illustrative scenarios for the videos, I made sure to include examples applied to coworker relationships. These apply to staff with little if any patient contact.

Q: We are a system with several facilities. Do we have to purchase the program for every facility or can we purchase the program once and use it everywhere?
A: You can purchase one “system license” that allows access by people throughout your system.
