Amy Steinbinder is a Managing Partner of Thunderbird Leadership Consulting since its formation in 2007. She is a respected healthcare leader with over 25 years of experience and publications in the field. Amy is never satisfied with the status quo but is committed to improving healthcare systems, whether it involves patient safety, quality, or organizational effectiveness. Amy possesses the knowledge, skills and persistence to help people arrive at effective solutions to the issues they want to change.

A seasoned facilitator and trainer, Amy has expertise in nursing systems, clinical practice innovation, and professional nursing practice. Amy uses Emotional Intelligence and Appreciative Inquiry principles in her training and facilitation. She is a DiSC® facilitator and a certified Patient Safety Officer. Amy has extensive experience in RCA (root cause analysis), FEMA (failure mode effect analysis) processes, service excellence and organizational dynamics.

Amy has worked with Banner Health System and Kindred Healthcare. She served as Clinical Associate Professor in the College of Nursing at the University of Arizona. Recent clients include Scripps Health, Cottage Health System, ProHealth Care System, Mission Community Hospital, OPUS Archives and Research Center, the Health Services Advisory Group - Arizona’s Quality Improvement Organization - and the New Mexico Heart Institute.

Thunderbird Leadership Consulting partnered with a Fortune 500 healthcare company to develop and implement a Service Excellence Initiative for its 80+ hospitals. Highlights of the work over four years included training and ongoing support of 45 facilitators, implementing the system roll-out, developing supporting curriculum, updating performance systems and evaluating metrics. Outcomes for the Initiative demonstrated reduced turnover, decreased contract labor and improved employee and patient satisfaction.


Education:

Amy Steinbinder earned a B.S.N., M.S. and Ph.D. in Nursing. She is certified in Nursing Administration through the American Nurses Association, is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, American Nurses Association and the American Organization of Nurse Executives.
